Presentation by OpenTalk CEO: Sustainable open source software procurement in the public sector

On October 16, Peer Heinlein, CEO of OpenTalk, will give a presentation on “The cuckoo in the bidding process: When the vendor loses to itself”. In this presentation, he will address the challenges of procuring open source software (OSS) in the public sector.

Peer Heinlein will shed light on how public tenders are often decided purely on price, which can lead to companies without their own development contribution taking contracts away from the actual manufacturers. This practice jeopardizes the further development and sustainability of OSS. The lecture will present possible solutions for the fair and sustainable procurement of OSS as well as possible legal frameworks that can ensure the long-term use of open source software in the public sector.
