OpenTalk at the Chemnitz Linux Days 2025
On March 22 and 23, 2025, the Chemnitzer Linus Days will take place under the motto “The Culture of Open Source”. One of the most traditional events of the open source community will be held in the lecture hall building at Reichenhainer Straße 90. Since its foundation in 1999, the Chemnitzer Linux-Tage has continuously attracted a wide audience and has established itself as a central meeting place for people interested in open source.
This year, OpenTalk will be sponsoring the event. Together with Heinlein Support, OpenCloud and mailbox.org, OpenTalk will be represented at the Heinlein Group's joint stand. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the OpenTalk video conferencing solution and how it can help strengthen digital sovereignty and security.
Cisco Room Kits, SIP and Livekit in OpenTalk: From expensive legacy to meaningful revival
On Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in room V7, Daniél Kerkman, Expert Lead at OpenTalk, will demonstrate how the once expensive hardware for video conferencing rooms can be sustainably reused through open source solutions. In a live demo, Kerkmann shows how Cisco Room Kits and Cisco video-enabled desk phones can be seamlessly integrated into modern OpenTalk video conferencing using the SIP protocol. The 60-minute presentation is aimed at anyone interested in standards, their creative use and experiences with the Rust ecosystem.
The Chemnitzer Linux-Tage offers a comprehensive program with lectures, workshops and an exhibition that provides relevant content for both beginners and experienced open source experts. The event is organized by the community with the common goal of making open source accessible to a broad public.
