OpenTalk 25.3.0 – Now with streaming and recording functionality
With version 25.3.0, the OpenTalk Cloud solution significantly expands its range of functions: for the first time, meetings can be recorded directly or streamed live. The update also introduces new options for controlling guest access and optimizes key components in the web front end for greater stability and security.
Restrict guest access
With the new function for deactivating guest access, operators can now decide for themselves whether meetings with external participants are possible. Guest access can be completely disabled via the configuration or tariff control – for example, for particularly sensitive use cases or isolated communication environments. This gives OpenTalk greater control over usage and supports operators in implementing individual security guidelines.
Recording and streaming – new possibilities for the OpenTalk Cloud solution.
A highlight of the update is the introduction of recording and streaming for our Software as a Service solution. Users can now record video conferences directly or broadcast them live – for example, for public meetings, training sessions, or digital events. Recording is limited by the available storage space: The Standard plan offers 1 GB of storage space for recordings, while the Premium plan offers 10 GB. The features are seamlessly integrated into the existing user interface and, of course, meet OpenTalk's high data protection and security standards.
Streaming offers particular flexibility in the Premium plan: video streams can be exported to external services such as YouTube, Twitch, or NC3 – the widely used RTMP(S) protocol is supported. This expands OpenTalk's range of applications – from confidential meetings to public livestreams with audience participation.
Improvements to the web front end
Version 25.3.0 includes numerous optimizations to the web front end that further improve stability and user experience. These include optimized screen sharing, faster loading times for video backgrounds, and corrections to chat and appointment management. Compatibility with various browsers has also been further improved.
Known limitations
It is currently known that the voting function (voting module) is not available in meetings if the first participant is a guest. This behavior can be remedied by having all participants leave the room and re-enter after 60 seconds. A fix will be delivered with version 25.3.1.
A complete overview of all features and bug fixes can be found in the technical release notes.
