OpenTalk at the Chemnitz Linux Days 2026

OpenTalk Chemnitzer Linux-Tage 28. und 29. März 2026

On 28 and 29 March 2026, the Chemnitz Linux Days 2026 will take place under the motto ‘Sovereign Digitality’. The lecture hall building at Reichenhainer Straße 90 will once again host one of the most important meeting places for the German-speaking open source community. Since 1999, the Chemnitz Linux Days have stood for professional exchange, practical insights and a lively community around free software.

This year's theme sums up what organisations are increasingly concerned with: How can digital infrastructures be designed in such a way that control, transparency and security are guaranteed in the long term? After all, digital sovereignty is a strategic necessity – especially for public authorities and companies with high requirements for data protection, compliance and IT security.

OpenTalk at the Heinlein Group's joint stand

OpenTalk will also be represented at the Heinlein Group's joint stand in 2026. Together with Heinlein Support, OpenCloud and mailbox, we will be presenting open source solutions for secure communication and digital collaboration.

Our focus is clearly on digital sovereignty: organisations retain control over their data, infrastructure and communication processes – without dependence on proprietary platforms.

Presentation: Why good software is invisible – and how we can change that

Date: Sunday, 29 March, 1:00 p.m.

Location: Room V3

Speaker: Laura Stieler, Senior Marketing & Communications Manager at OpenTalk and the Heinlein Group

Open source projects often face the challenge of gaining public awareness and acceptance. One of the reasons for this is that communicating technical content in a way that is understandable and builds trust is not always successful. The presentation examines how cooperation between technical teams and communications managers can be structured and what learning processes are necessary on both sides.

Practical examples are used to illustrate which communication strategies are successful and where typical hurdles lie. The focus is on how open source solutions can not only be developed, but also promoted and established in administration, business and society.

The presentation is aimed at anyone who not only develops open source, but also wants to promote its acceptance in administration, business and society.

Exchange on equal terms

The Chemnitz Linux Days traditionally stand for direct dialogue. In addition to an extensive programme of presentations, the event offers space for discussions with developers, IT managers and decision-makers.

We look forward to presenting the latest developments relating to OpenTalk and the Heinlein Group, sharing experiences from projects and discussing the next steps towards sovereign digital collaboration.
