Greater security, improved visibility and new design options – OpenTalk 26.1

OpenTalk

OpenTalk 26.1 brings a host of improvements to the platform in terms of security, user-friendliness and administration. The update expands session management capabilities, improves the display of active participants and introduces new options for customising the user interface. At the same time, numerous bug fixes and optimisations ensure an even more stable conferencing experience.

Greater security through centralised logout

From version 26.1 onwards, OpenTalk supports OIDC back-channel logout. If a user is logged out of the connected identity provider, the active OpenTalk session now also ends automatically. This prevents existing sessions from being used unintentionally.

This feature improves security and simplifies the management of user access, particularly in organisations with centralised identity management.

Customisable interface for every work environment

With OpenTalk 26.1, users can choose between a classic look and feel and a light, dark or system-controlled design. The selected theme is applied both in the dashboard and within meetings.

This allows the user interface to be better adapted to personal preferences and different work environments.

Inactive meetings are automatically ended

Unattended conference rooms are a thing of the past. OpenTalk now detects inactive meetings and ends them automatically when there are no longer any active participants.

This prevents cameras or microphones from remaining active unintentionally for extended periods. At the same time, system resources are used more efficiently.

Better overview in large meetings

The display of participants has also been further improved. In the gallery view, the person currently speaking remains visible at all times, even if they would actually be on the other side of the participant view.

In addition, the selected sorting options now apply to both the gallery view and the speaker view. This makes it quicker to identify moderators and active participants.

Improved audio quality during screen sharing

For presentations and training sessions, audio transmission during screen sharing has been optimised. Adjusted default settings ensure better sound quality, particularly when transmitting media content.

This benefits both presenters and participants who rely on high-quality audio transmission.

Further improvements

In addition to the new features, many areas of the platform have been further optimised. These include, amongst others:

  • More reliable handling of recurring meetings and exceptions
  • Improved recovery from server errors without the need to log in again
  • Optimised email notifications for regional language settings
  • Revised polls and LegalVote forms
  • Improved display and usability on smaller screens
  • Improved stability in Firefox

In addition, numerous bugs in the frontend, controller and other OpenTalk components have been fixed.

OpenTalk 26.1 significantly enhances the platform’s security and user-friendliness. Support for central logouts, new display options and automatic inactivity checks noticeably improve day-to-day use. At the same time, numerous minor improvements and bug fixes ensure a more stable and user-friendly experience when using OpenTalk in businesses and public sector organisations.

A complete overview of all features and bug fixes can be found in the technical release notes.
