Data processing agreement (DPA)
Definition:
A data processing agreement (DPA) is a legal agreement required under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) when personal data is processed by third parties. The DPA regulates the processing of this data by a service provider (contracted processor) on behalf of a controller. The responsibility for the proper data processing remains with the client.
Advantages:
- ensuring compliance with the GDPR requirements
- protection of personal data through contractually regulated measures
- transparency and clear responsibilities between the parties
- avoiding fines and legal risks
