OpenTalk and mgm enter into partnership to integrate video meetings into specialist processes

Berlin, November 07, 2023 - OpenTalk, leading provider of digitally sovereign and secure video conferencing solutions, and mgm technology partners (mgm), manufacturer of the low-code platform A12, announce their strategic partnership. The aim of the cooperation is to integrate OpenTalk into the mgm A12 platform to create a comprehensive and easy-to-use video conferencing solution for the public sector.

Partnership for digital administration

The collaboration between the two companies will enable the seamless integration of secure video conferencing into digital specialist procedures, i.e. into special business processes within public administration. Existing login procedures that are widely used in the administration can be used to access a conference. This solution is therefore in line with the Online Access Act (OZG) and promotes easier access to administrative services.

By partnering with OpenTalk, mgm is expanding its A12 platform offering with a professional video conferencing solution that is particularly suitable for use in public sector projects. OpenTalk was developed in Germany, is GDPR-compliant, is open source software and can also be operated in the company's own data center or used as a SaaS service.

OpenTalk, on the other hand, benefits from the existing distribution of the A12 platform in public administration and aims to integrate the established and secure login procedures such as BundID or login via ELSTER organization certificates in order to create further added value.

The partnership thus ensures rapid availability of video-supported specialist procedures and opens up new application possibilities in digital administration. The OpenTalk extension will be published under the European Public License (EUPL) on OpenCoDE.de so that the solution can also be adapted in other areas of administration in line with the EfA principle ("one for all" principle).

Planned integration of OpenTalk into the A12 platform

The technical details of the integration of OpenTalk as an optional module in the A12 platform are currently being worked out as part of a proof of concept. Customers and partners will later be able to integrate the video conferencing function directly into their specialist processes or access OpenTalk via the existing API interface. The solution is expected to be available in the first half of 2024.

The partnership between OpenTalk and mgm represents an important step towards digital services for citizens and administration and offers decisive advantages.

"We are delighted to have gained a partner in mgm that already has an established low-code platform for public administration. OpenTalk fits seamlessly into existing and future digital administration processes," says Markus Michels, Managing Director of OpenTalk. "This partnership, as well as the initiated BSI certification, is part of our strategy to provide a highly secure and digitally sovereign video conferencing solution for public administration."

"Given the increasing need for integrated collaboration capabilities in public administration, we see the partnership with OpenTalk as an excellent opportunity," says Sergio Lerena Robles, member of mgm's Executive Board. "By integrating the OpenTalk video conferencing solution into our low-code platform A12, we can meet this need and offer our customers added value."
