Deutsche Telekom opts for OpenTalk
Secure open source video conferencing for the German Armed Forces Association
Berlin, October 14, 2024 โ Deutsche Telekom and OpenTalk are implementing their first joint project: OpenTalk is now providing the GPDR-compliant video conferencing solution for the German Armed Forces Association. Around 5,000 users at locations across Germany will benefit from the secure and modern solution, which will be used for committee and board meetings as well as office hours.
โWith this first joint project, we are underlining the strategic importance of open source software in general and OpenTalk in particular for us as Telekom,โ explains Peer Baumann, Manager Business Development at Deutsche Telekom. This collaboration is the beginning of a promising partnership within the Open Telekom Cloud.
The technical implementation is carried out by Deutsche Telekom, which, as a certified OpenTalk partner, is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and operation of the video conferencing solution. This ensures seamless integration into the existing IT infrastructures and guarantees maximum security and stability for the German Armed Forces Association.
Daniel Zielke, Director of Strategic Partnerships at OpenTalk, emphasizes the importance of this milestone: โWe are pleased about this first joint project, which once again shows that open source and large providers like Telekom can work well together and make a joint contribution to making the world a little more digitally sovereign.โ
Through this strategic partnership, OpenTalk and Deutsche Telekom are setting an important example for digital sovereignty. The project for the German Armed Forces Association also shows that OpenTalk, with its specially developed functions such as audit-proof voting and GDPR-compliant data processing, is ideally suited for use in security-critical areas.
The cooperation between OpenTalk and Deutsche Telekom is an important step towards further joint projects that are tailored to the specific requirements of public institutions and authorities.
