OpenTalk at the Univention Summit 2026
The Univention Summit in Bremen has established itself as a key event for open source technologies and digital sovereignty. From 28 to 29 January 2026, the event will once again provide a platform for professional exchange between IT service providers, software manufacturers and users from Germany and Europe. With an expanded programme of keynotes, panel discussions, practical presentations and workshops, current developments and solutions for administration, education and business will be discussed.
OpenTalk will also be represented at this year's Univention Summit, presenting practical approaches for secure and sovereign communication. The video conferencing solution will be presented in two programme items dealing with the requirements for real-time communication in public institutions and companies.
Workshop: Real-time data protection – designing secure communication with sovereignty
On Wednesday, 28 January, at 11:30 a.m. on the Public Stage as part of the Public Sector Track, there will be a workshop on the topic of data protection-compliant real-time communication. Secure video conferencing places special demands on data protection and IT security. Using concrete examples, the workshop will show how organisations can protect confidential meetings, minimise security risks and strengthen digital sovereignty in their communication infrastructure.
Daniel Zielke, Director of Strategic Partnerships at OpenTalk, and Dennis Kalbhen, Director of Technical Services, will explain the technical and organisational measures that enable modern solutions for secure real-time communication. The workshop is aimed at decision-makers and IT managers who want to design their communication infrastructure in accordance with the highest security standards.
Panel discussion: Requirements for the Germany Stack
On Thursday, 29 January, at 11:00 a.m., Jutta Horstmann, Co-CEO of the Heinlein Group, will join other experts on the Main Stage as part of the Main Track to discuss the requirements for the planned Germany Stack. The discussion will address key issues relating to digital sovereignty, the role of open source, and the technical and organisational prerequisites for rapid implementation of the platform.
Panel participants include Felix Kronlage-Dammers from Sovereign Cloud Stack, Leonhard Kugler from the ZenDiS platform for digital sovereignty openCode, Dr Dirk Gernhardt as open source representative for the City of Munich, and Dr Martin Hagen, State Councillor for Budget, Personnel and Digitalisation for the Senator for Finance of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
Networking and exchange
With around 30 exhibiting IT partners, interactive formats such as themed cafés, discussion panels and open stages, the Univention Summit 2026 offers numerous opportunities for professional exchange and networking. The event combines in-depth technical presentations with practical insights into current developments in the open source landscape.
OpenTalk looks forward to exchanging ideas with participants from government agencies, public institutions and companies that consider digital sovereignty and secure communication to be strategic priorities. Further information on the programme and registration can be found on the Univention Summit website.
